Best I can do to show springs. It is parked up an incline at the moment with handbrake on. I had these springs on before I fitted the sammy axles with no issue. Also I can drive along at 60 with no issues at all. It's literally for less than a second in low gears when the boost kicks in???? And they are rascal springs.

Those springs look like they are suffering axle wrap to me :cry:

The prop may be steep but the shafts are almost parallel :thumbup:

I thought it was a bit steep but runs fine. Scottie mentioned that you can redrill the saddles and spring plate to move the axle an inch. I may do that at some point too. It'll ease the angle slightly.

Bollox!! I really didn't wanna have to take the axle off a have to do it all again. I'm doing it the same as I did the front if I do. Be pissed if I re do it all and it don't solve the problem tho.

Don't worry just yet, wait for some more reply's . Personally as you welded the perches on parallel with the original I can only assume the axle is fine. Therefore looking at the angle I assume they have an S shape to the spring. Looks like it to me and would only get worse when the boost kicks in.

2 things

1st I'm afraid those rear springs do look dead and like they have been wrapping quite a bit, rascal springs should have quite a bit more curve to them than that.

2nd Those UJ angles are quite bad, the diff pinion is tilted up far too much. what phone have you got? If its a smart phone download and angle finder app and remove the propshaft, place it on the flanges and compare the angles, they should be within 1-2degrees of each other to be in phase and minimise vibrations. You can get away with the diff being tilted down slightly but not by more than 2degrees when compared with the tbox flange angle. If you can't find an angle finder app then magnetic angle finders are quite cheap to buy. If you did weld the perches on at the same angle as the old axles then maybe it is to do with your springs

Jordi, Your diff looks like it needs to be tilted up a few degrees in that pic, if you redrill the perches you'll have to move the axle forwards to tilt the diff up, if you move it back the diff will point down even more. It might not be too bad though as I said in my original post the nose of the diff will tilt up slightly when you are driving along.

You can actually get caster wedges that fit between the springs and the perches to alter the angles, they're easy to get in the US but I still haven't managed to find a place in the UK that sells them :er:

So rather than me having to take the axle off and grind the perches off is there any reason I can't make some wedges up to alter the prop angle? Also would add a leafs be alright to perk my springs up ya reckon??

You'd have to release the axle to get the wedges in. I'd get the springs sorted and see where it's at.

I'm not sure if putting an extra leaf in would solve the problem. From the pictures it looks like your springs have twisted from the torque being put through the axle.

Personally I only think add-a-leafs should be used when the rest of the spring pack is in good condition otherwise the old leaves bend around the ends of the add-a-leafs.

First I'd probably just find some good standard rear springs, l would imagine they would sit around the same height if not a little bit higher than those.

no reason why you can't make some caster shims, all they really are is a wedge with a hole for the locating pin, do a google search and you'll find some pics.

You do need some good condition springs when running a diesel because of the amount of torque they have.
