Front Recovery point
Front Recovery point
I need a front recovery point on my Vit. It's only a temporary problem, as I will be getting a winch bumper in the not too distant future.
I gather the towing eye on the front is not really up to the job.
What can I use as a cheap alternative?
Can I safely use my tow bar for rear recovery?

Re: Front Recovery point
Tow bar will be man enough on the rear. Dunno what the front of a vit is like so cant suggest much.
Janspeed manifold, LWB Vit vented discs and calipers

Re: Front Recovery point
Rear tow ball is fine for light recoveries as long as you aren't doing a snatch recovery using a kinetic rope as it has been known for tow balls to snap off and turn into a lethal projectile.
The front tie down point is also ok for light recoveries but are not suitable if you are really stuck. I.e. need a winch or snatch recovery.

Yes, I know, but £50 will go a long way towards my winch bumper.

Re: Front Recovery point
I realise that this is an old thread but it seems that there is often confusion regarding the towing eyes and the tie down points. The tie down points are the 'slots' in the chassis and not the hoops. The hoops on mine have withstood a lot of abuse but if they show signs of corrosion then its best not to use them.
