Re: Jordi's 1988 Samurai Build
Been quite busy today.
Been through loads of spares and posted a few forsale. Once they sell or bin and i've got more space i'll dig some more out. Sorted out a manifold for the KJA, as i'm off tomorrow i'm going to service the front brakes and make a start on stripping the 1.6 down.
Quite excited about my little trip coming up. Although due to the size of several items think i'm going to hire a van for the weekend.
2xDoors, bonnet, lever gaitors, t/box, 5xwheels. Also asked mike if he has a screen wash bottle with pump.
I'm hoping to be bringing spare cash too chaps. Just incase anything catches my eye, lol.

Re: Jordi's 1988 Samurai Build
After much messing on with the N/S/F caliper I have given up. The brakes keeps binding on after a few weeks. I keep stripping it, greasing it, wire brushing it and rebuilding it.
Works fine for a few weeks / months then does exactly the same. The piston doesn't seem overly corroded, the slides move fine every time I clean them up.
I'm presuming it is just getting full of crud as the seals are perished, worn and stretched. I can't even get them back in now.
I've ordered the service kit from Brakes International
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/230885848932? ... 1497.l2649
I've ordered two so I can do both sides. Can't do any harm. Ordered off Ebay as it is about £5 cheaper. Not much of a saving but still a saving.
I know we all bash on about discs being better than drums (and they are, i totally agree) but the chew i'm having with these.
I've put it back together minus all the rubber boots and clagged it in copper grease. So next weekend, if i'm home, it'll be strip both calipers down, damn good wire brush, possible paint and rebuild again. With nice shiny new bits.

Re: Jordi's 1988 Samurai Build
Leaky master cylinder. Always the easiest option first.
My local suzuki dealer will argue black and blue that their computer is right. Even if the part if my hand is completely different.
Phone call to Stoneacre Suzuki at middlesbrough. Spoke to Shaun in parts.
"Its quite old the computer may not recognise it, i'll phone you back."
5 mins later a phone call.
Him "Found it straight away, i'll e-mail you the exploded picture" same one darrell posted
Me "part 10, the rubber grommet, 2 of please"
Him " no bother, £9.07 inc vat, be available to collect tomorrow after dinner"
Hopefully this will sort the leaky master cylinder.

Re: Jordi's 1988 Samurai Build
Another minor job sorted. Spoke to Rockwatt, he does have a real name too.
Organised dropping my bits in weekend 8th, 9th. So by the end of feb i should have all my bits in place to do the engine swap and fit my rocklobster.
Can't wait.

Re: Jordi's 1988 Samurai Build
Looks a good kit
Copper grease makes the seals swell up and then next time you pull
it apart your never get it back together. (Does take some time though)
Suzuki recommend rubber grease which can be brought at any motorist shop
but silicone must be rubber safe as that's what's in the kit.

Here's a couple of pic's Martin (bigjimny) posted when he got the new ones

Re: Jordi's 1988 Samurai Build
More parts.
The brake caliper rebuild kit. All four seals for the slides, new slides, piston seal and boot and it looks like bleed nipple covers.
So thats a weekend job. I'll have master cylinder seals too by then.
Might even paint the calipers. Proper TLC.
