Alternator Wiring Fuselink

Post by Gardiner » Mon Feb 11, 2013 12:28 pm

Back to my electrical issues I am now using a Alternator with rectangle plug so I need to re-think my wiring.
So my plan is 2 Thick White Yellow Tracer Wires out of alternator straight to battery.
New Heavy Duty Wire out of battery to Isolator.
New heavy duty wire from isolator to 40amp Midi Fuse Connector.
Wire from midi fuse into loom.
Does this sound right ?????

I'm confused :er:

Why not just wire it up as it is standard?

Yes but as it is at the moment it is as follows.
Wire comes out of alternator then joins to wiring loom and wire comes from battery to midi fuse and they are connected together.
Unless im thinking down the wrong lines the feed from alternator to loom is not fused.
I will try to do a drawing later.

The feed from the alternator to loom runs straight into the fuse box so everything that is fed off it is fused

Standard Is The Issue As It Has Been A Bit Butchered In The Past:-
so as there is 2 wires coming out of alternator would it be right for:-
Do I join the 2 out of alternator to the loom and battery so in other words All 4 joined together ???

There is always 2 wires coming from the alternator. (On Spanish ones anyway?)

In the end I joined it up as follows
Alternator to connector one wire into loom one up to isolator then into battery.
