diff raitio

hi iv'e been trying to locate a rear diff for my 2.5 v6 grand vitara.the broken one i removed has 43 teeth on the big wheel and 10 on the little wheel.the one i've bought has 43 teeth on the big wheel but 11 teeth on the little wheel.what i need to know is are they the same ratio ????? any help gratefully received

The ratio is quite simply the large tooth number divided by the small tooth number.
Therefore the ratio was 4.30 to one
The replacement is 3.909 to one :thumbdown:
My list shows that's from a grand vitara xl7 2L

It would make it slightly faster for the same rpm, but the problem would be when in 4wd as the front and rear axles won't be the same.
