Project Bodge
Re: Project Bodge
Finally treated my SJ to a new air filter, as the old one was starting to look a bit dirty. Got a second hand K&N off ebay, and as i'm sure we are all aware a K&N is a guaranteed extra 20bhp .

Got one of those in mine, I like it seems a little more responsive but only a little . Also supposedly never needs to be replaced.

Re: Project Bodge
I'v noticed a small differance, but i think that is becuse my old filter was covered in mud .

I'v no idea how many mpg's i was getting before . My speedo is so far out its impossible to work it out. I hope it doesn't get worse, i allready spend a outrageos amount on fuel.
You can wash it, but you then need to put some special pink K&N oil on it after...or whatever oil you've got lying around in the garage.
Once a boy racer, allways a boy racer .

It's like James May said. Its easier and more fun to drive a small low powered car to its limit than a ferrari.
I don't spend a huge amount on fuel but my MPG is appalling. Very low 20s.
Once i get the rock lobster and 1600 in i'll work it out again.

Re: Project Bodge
Who would of thought changing the gearstick would be such a pain in the arse
Picked up a gear stick off Scottie yesterday as mine had no gator on it. So thought i would change the gearbox oil at the same time. So emptyed out the old watery crap and a couple of the gear teeth came out with it . I had a spare gear box in the shed so i thought i would change it. So after wrestling with the old box for a hour finally got the bastard out. Then it turns out the bearing in the fly wheel is completely destroyed (I didn't even know there was a bearing in the fly wheel)
So once again the SJ is in a hundred pieces on the drive untill i can get hold of the parts.

Re: Project Bodge
You are kidding me?
Hope you can get it sorted for Wiltshire.
And that bearing is the pilot bearing, holds / supports the gearbox input shaft.
