the story so far - my SJ

Post by theboy » Sun Feb 17, 2013 6:22 pm

Well I bought this in January and have started to mod it, not to the scale some of you do but im slowly on the way!

this is how it started -

Now its got the bumper removed, tyres have been changed for mud ones, wheels have been painted, side & indicator lights relocated in a stealthy way ;) 12 months MOT, undersealed

Next on the list is it probably needs a clutch soon but want to use it a few times first, springs, finish bodywork repairs - tinrot!

sidelights hidden -

sidelights on, I like the stealthy look and it keeps the front looking simple which IMO is better :D

Dont know if those lights will be legal there.

I seem to remember you have to be able to see them from a 80º angle for MOT.

Suppose its only a case of cable tieing them elsewhere for the MOT thougg.

Looks good.

Nice zooki, I like how it looks but Imo I prefer bumpers on the front, nice job moving the sidelights, you did well taking the picture and catching the hazard lights! I have a thing for j reg Sammys, the best year for them - before the grill changed. More piccys?

Cheers for the comments guys and yes Dan they are unlikely of passing an MOT but as you say a couple of zip ties below be grill will do the trick or I might just take the grill mesh out for MOT

Cheers, do you think they are standard rims or are they deeper than you'd expect on a J reg? I don't know!

I think they are wider, they look like 7j rims. standard suzukis have 5.5j. I'd have thought your original wheels would have been gunmetal pepper pots

Yeah I did think they were different to factory spec. They do give the truck a better stance too

Was told by the MOT man that cable ties no longer count as a valid repair
Sid James gone but never forgotten
Jimny 1.6 not as good as an SJ but still good
