standard wheel size

Post by Richie » Tue Feb 19, 2013 8:26 am

Ive put vitara fat boy alloys (10 inches wide) with new 31 10.50 15 tyres on my sj and to be honest it isnt that impressive.

Looking at it i can see that when pumped up the side walls are 12 inches wide but the tread is only 8 inches wide (Mt mud terrain)

So im going to have to sell them even tho they look sweet

Ive got both types of the standard steel wheels (the round hole ones and the triangle ones) and i was thinking insa turbo special track tyres, anyone know what size i can go for without having the same prob? It would be nice to keep it 30-31 inch high on the tyre, Thx

Looking at this on standard 15x5.5" SJ rims max tyres is a 215/75.

30" tyres ideally need a 6.5" rim i think. The 31s should be on an 8" rim but smaller is possible.

10" wheels are far too wide for 10.5" wide tyres.

The minimum width tyre I would run on 10" wheels is 12.5" I used to run 11.5" wide tyres on them and had problems with the tyre popping off the bead.

Nice. I'll have a word with my Dad. I only want the wheels. But he may be interested in the tyres.

Also got a mate looking for tyes for his HiLux.

Are you sure they're 15x10s, they don't look to be sat too bad.

What are the tyres? Brand/tread pattern?

Cheers

Here u can see the tread pattern alittle better

Yea they are 15x10 they had 265 road tyres on (which i still have and cost me just over £200) then i bought the king pin tracker mud terrain new which was £350. By the time they were fitted on the rims they stood me in around £600 lol.

Used them maybe 4-5 times which was good but for what we do offroad i would probley rather try and find some insa turbo special tracks on 7-8 inch wide steel rims (which i cant find yet)
