Pajero/Shogun front seats in SJ

Post by Jay18 » Sun Feb 24, 2013 10:10 pm

So i got asked about my zuks seats so thought id do a seperate thread about them...

so i got a pair of front seats from a Mitsubishi Shogun/Pajero LWB

they are the front seats with the arm rests..

here are the seats i used, they cost me a whopping £10 each! got to love mates rates:

and here is how i fitted them, look at how the armrests come together in the pic above, they fit snuggly together as one armrest, which means the seats just fit nicecly, there is plenty of space to use the handbrake and gear stick...

now to start with the chopping and welding...

so well start off with the drivers seat...

now if you have a pair of these seats you should be able to work out whats going on here, first ov all remove the control knobs for the reclining etc, the knobs are kept on with clips which you can just pop off but dont lose them! the slider lever has a screw in the bottom and then slides off, now with both seats you need to remove the original rails, leave all the bits that operate the seat reclining and the back support on the drivers seat, they can be kept working aswel as the rclining on the passenger seat...

you will need to remove the drivers side subframe from the zuk and seat rails on the SJ seat to use on the new drivers seat, if you look at the back of the pajero drivers seat youll see the folded over bit of metal near the bottom, you need to make sure you have a level line around the seat to this fold, then add 2x 2" x 1" box section for strength and weld it nice and strong but make sure to keep the box section clear of the round bars that move as you adjust the seats comfort...

the small tabs on the SJ rails that are angled to bold down to the sj subframe will need to be cut off, also remove the handle and lock on the SJ rails so you can use it on the new seats...

as you can see in the previous pic the SJ rail lock is welded to the pajero lock lever, weld the rails strongly to the bottom of the seat...

now for the passenger side...

i went for the nice and easy way of just welding the 2" x 1" box section the the bottom of the seat and having the passenger seat bolted into the zuk at the same position as the drivers seat, still keeping the reclining feature if i remember right there was no trimming needed on the passener seat...

to bolt them in i used M10 bolts about 30mm long welded in to the rails, so all you need to do is drill 4 holes in the floor for each seat in the car, then slot the seats into the car with a bit of persuasion and fit the nuts from the underside of the car, use some nice big washers to grip the seats to the floor nice and strongly...

dont forget to refit the plastic trim to keep it looking tidy, and paint all bare metal a nice black ;)

finished product:

any questions just ask! i will be updating this with clearer diagrams and pic and anymore information i can think of...

my original seats don't even have the slide feature, they are just bolted straight in :D
It's not a question of how much you spend on your suzuki, but when your money will run out

thanks! i tell you something these seats make the driving position a hell of alot better, at first my knee was hitting the steering wheel everytime i came off the clutch but now my legs have more room and it is alot more comfortable to sit in, and the back support adjustment is brilliant!

i seriously recommend these seats in an SJ
