Few pics from a little trip Tuesday/Wednesday.
Si's SJ
Heading cross country.
break for a drinky.
Camping in the same place as last time.
Looks like the site of a meteor strike, or a downed aircraft. Logging plus some severe storms the last few weeks.
Messing about near a reservoir.
And a few from last week.

Re: Few pics from a little trip Tuesday/Wednesday.
We did have one hairy moment. We headed down a track where they had been logging to see if it came out near the reservoir we wanted to have a play near. Anyway, going down was fine. no bother at all. However, coming back up it decided it wanted to be muddy. And slippy. And 'traction free'. Well, muggins was going up first, and I just could not get any further, purely because I was expecting it to be nice and dry as it was on the way down. No end of manoeuvres could get me any higher. Si came up in the SJ and ended up not being able to get anywhere either. After much toing and froing, (and it had started to rain at this point), I moved my car off the trail, and simon went back down in reverse, then just pelted up full bifta. That worked. All we needed was a jolly good run up. So, while he sped past I then reversed down to the bottom and did the same. I came pelting up, wheels spinning, mud flying everywhere, (I got a clod right on the bonce), and then discovered that Si had stopped just a bit further on. He only just got his car going by the time I reached him and we got to the top. Quite funny now, but back then, rain starting to come down, and the only other way would be a very slow winching operation to get up both to the top it was all a bit 'bugger'.

Sounds so easy. Shame we cant just go anywhere and pitch a tent anywhere.
Byways are strictly controlled and many run through farm land you can't just camp on. Plenty of people waiting to take our details and report us for being where we shouldn't or driving like loonies when we are doing 15mph on a byway!
I'm only just getting into the greenlaning so as my ability with a map gets better and i find more places i may plan something.
I know the kinda incident you mean. When i was out on monday parts of the route were blocked by snow. In some areas it was a steep downhill on snow and i was praying i didn't have to turn around as i'd of never climbed back up.

It was the same in Upstate NY when I lived there. They had all the wilderness nature could throw at them, but off roading was SO restricted. I never had any off road bug when I was in the UK. I was more interested in fast(ish) cars. It only peaked my interest in the States, and then when I came here. My brother caught the bug and now has the SJ. Prior to that he had a Pinin, and before that a Tahoe.
