Sammy pulling to one side when breaking

Post by theboy » Sun Apr 07, 2013 9:40 pm

Hi,

My sammy is pulling to the left (passanger side) under breaking quite a lot.

I have cleaned the drivers side caliper up (the one i didnt think was working) and copper greased it up. I've pushed the piston in & out a few times, it moves in and out ok and the seal is intact. I've checked the sliders were clean and regreased them.

So I put it all back together and still have the same problem?

Any ideas? Could the passenger side be 'over breaking' or could there be another fault I'm missing?

Cheers, Tom

I'm not sure to be honest as I haven't taken that side apart yet as I thought the problem was with drivers side. What might be wrong with the passenger disc? Just so I know what I'm looking for?!

Cheers

Its the passenger side caliper. Take that off and strip and clean too. Tend to find which ever way it pulls thats the brake playing up.

Thanks Jordi, I will give it a go. My logic told me that the direction it pulled meant the opposite brake was the problem and not working - shows how good my mechanic skills are!

You'll probably find that the passenger side caliper is permanantly binding on a bit. Just stripping, cleaning and rebuilding should sort it.

All seals and caliper parts are easily available if needed.

it can also be something as simple as tyre pressure. if you near side front tyre is down a bit it can pull you to the left when you are braking. its the first thing id check. not to say the caliper isn't sticky as it more than likely is. just following the kis rule (keep it simple) of simple things first.
pickle power!
