vitara engine conversion alternater problem :(

Fitted the 1.6 in my bros sammy today all went pritty good but
ended up playing about with alternaters for 3hrs lol
the vitara alternator fits tidy but has wrong wiring
so fitted the sammy alternator and it fauls everything?

given up for the day naw gna crack on with it tomoz after iv took the missis shoppin :(

also i driled the driver side mount to fit the centre bolt of the mount directly to mount location
is that right?

pls help!!

Have you got the plug for the vit alt?

It's easy to wire up the vit alt, the wiring colours are even the same.

No aint got it :(
We bought the sammy with two engines striped into peices all in one box lol
was a headake rebuilding the vitara not noing witch oart goes to witch engine butt all done naw
aint got around to starting it yet thou

i have a vitara here but im puting the engine from that into mine after this ones done so guessing om gna need it for mine :(

Is the the round green plug that you need? if so I might possibly have a spare one, ill check though as my father might need it for his but if not then ill let you know!

Red /white tracer = L (lamp)
Black /white tracer= IG (ignition +)

White /yellow tracer to the + terminal on the starter

i sure thers only one spade conector in the round plug on mine??
on the sammy thers two chunky yellow wires witch wer looped together and a skinny wire
i spaded the skinny wire and put it into the spade in the round box on alt
and the two thick wires i conected together and looped it on the bolt on back of alternater
dont no if its wrking yet aint put the testers on

do you no if iv done it right??

Yes some of the Alts only have the one connector, you can still use the diagram I posted as the wires will still be in the same position.

What you have done is probably correct, what colour was the small wire?

Probably the Lamp wire then, guess when you turn the ignition on the battery light comes on and the. Goes off once the engine is started? I seem to remember that is the only connector in the terminal on most.

It should be red and white but chances are the white bit has just gone yellow after 20years in an engine bay :lol:

Are you sure you don't have a small black/white wire hanging around ??

If he has the same alt as the ones I run with an externally replaceable Bosch voltage regulator then they only have the terminal for the Lamp wire ;)

My plug is still wired up with an ignition live for both types of alt though.
