Right Here Goes......... When I put my little SJ into gear the gear stick still wobbles about like it is in nutrual, (moves about 6" side to side). Just want to know if this is normal?????
It seems to run fine, never pops out of gear, and is nice and solid
The thrust bearing is a bit noisey but apart from that I am at a loss

mines the same the stick wobbles all over the place. never been a problem and it hasn't got any worse I would get the thrust bearing sorted tho it'll only take an hour or 2 I left mine for ages and it went bang on the m25 when I got stuck in traffic - in the middle lane! and the recovery driver was completely mad...
Re: Wobbly gearbox!
Take your gater off, Then put the stick in N.
Undo the 3 10mm bolts, pull the stick out. You will probably find that the ball is very worn. Put some pics up. I have a stick hear if you want it.

Re: Wobbly gearbox!
there is a small locator bolt that is either in front or behind where the gear stick goes ino the gearbox. Chances are that the bit on the end of the bolt has snapped off and loose in its hole. you can usually just pop it out and then get a bolt that matches turned down on a lathe at the end. Sometimes it gets stuck though so you,ll need to pop the lever out like henry has said; just be careful it doesn't drop hole where he lever was!
