Creamy Oil

Post by Gardiner » Sat May 25, 2013 8:09 pm

Have I got yet another problem

Took oil cap off today and there is quite a bit of best description is creamy gunk inside cap.
Also when I dropped oil out it doesn't quite "Smell" right.

Any Thoughts ????

Emulsion. Usually caused by water in the oil.

Would it be the Head Gasket ?

Could be head gasket. Nothing wrong with a compression test to see what the results are.

How long since it was last serviced?

Do you do a lot of short journeys? Could just be condensation mixing with oil in the rocker cover then collecting on the cap.
