Which thermostat / sensor

Post by Jordi » Sat Jun 01, 2013 5:13 pm

Its all in and running lovely. I'm just not sure i have the right setup.

I'm running vit radiator, vit 1.6 8v temp sensor and a 1300 thermostat as the 1.6 thermostat was slightly different and didn't fit into the 1.3 manifold properly.

When running the temp gauge goes up about a quarter which suggests its running cool to me. When i check the radiator and pipes they are red hot, i don't remember them being this hot with the 1.3 in.

Are the 8v carb and 8v SPi thermostats different?
Should i fit the 1.3 sensor?

Cheers Tom, didn't make much sense to me though. I may swap to the 1300 sensor and see how it read. As that post says sensor and gauges "go together" so to speak.

Its the thermomstat too bud, not sure if its running hot?

The pipes and rad seem a lot hotter than i remember they got with the 1.3. I'll try just swapping and mix n match, see how the temp gauge reads.

its hard to say as i pulled my 8v out and dumped in in my sj and didnt check anything like that!

personally i would say, use the sammy sensor as it belongs with the sammy clock. And id say use the vitty thermostat as your using a vitty rad and a vitty engine!

if not im stumped :er:

however you might have a fuberd thermostat id whip it out and test it aswell!
