No cos it stops the oil/grease/mud getting in and out of the bottom of the seal... Ive run mine cut for years and not had any problems because of it

haha I don't take the shaft out to change the kingpins...

I don't ever cut them, the slit could just be another place that water might find it's way in. Once a new set is fitted then they should last 10+ years and it's not exactly a hard job to pull off a knuckle to change them.

thanks for the input all.

So long and short is that it is possible to replace seal and felt without stripping everything, but in my case probably best to get in there and see how things are.

Still need to know where in uk is possible to buy kit for this ( online please ).
Will also try online here in Italy but just not sure what these are called in Italian.

Will do these in a few months as returning to UK for 6 weeks next week with kids for hols.
Will no doubt be asking questions when I take it all apart.

thanks
Steve

Thats not a bad price considering the Kingpin bearings are like £15-20 each where I get them from!

thanks for the pointer
you have got to be having a laugh, all the way from Australia to beat Suzuki prices, what is the world coming too !!!!!!!

Anyway what is 100 Aussie dollars in sterling, and how much import taxes to be paid.

Must try to find out in italian what these are called as they must have them here as there are loads of old SJs about.

Thanks
Steve

answer to my own Q

Including postage 100 aussie dollars approx £65. But what are the taxes to be paid ? Is it just VAT on top which makes total of £ 78 for full kit for both sides delivered, can this be right.
