I met a couple of lads from Fellows speed shop at the stafford show.. They do some nice work.
Also talked to the bloke from RJES.. He seems to know his stuff too.

As for quicker.. There was a Subaru powered VW T2 at the show, the owner said he had travelled at 80 mph on the motorway on the way to the show.. I'd be very happy with that (bearing in mind that a T2 is shaped like a brick)
More reliable.. I just like the idea of a water cooled engine.. My opinion.. Silly idea to put a air cooled engine in a steel box at the rear of a vehicle..It seems that the chance of fire is a real problem.(one caught fire at the above mentioned show)
Economical.. There's always LPG?
Heating.. I am hoping to fit part of the Subaru heating system.. But haven't done a lot of research on this.

You had a look at dtavw.com ?? Scroll through the site and you will see a number of pics of a bay that caught fire and was pretty much burnt out - but was then rebuilt with the fire damage 'patina' left

not everybody's idea of cool but each to their own huh

I have been around type 2 vws campers for years,(used to be on the type 2 owners club committee),and in fact have 2 in my garage now. Yes fire is a fairly common problem but only when the fuel lines get old a crack due to the build up of heat in the engine bay, most people replace them fairly quickly to avoid this.
