I'm an idiot!!
Whilst re-fitting my half shafts, for reasons unknown to me, I sat in the cab and pushed the brake pedal which has push oe of my pistons out of the caliper. When I spotted it I pushed it back straight away but now I think it is weeping although I havent had time to 100% proove that.
Having never rebuilt a caliper I'm not sure if I should have used a certain method other than panic and a g-clamp.
Realistically what have I done to it and whats the quickest fix given that I need it up and running by friday?

Re: I'm an idiot!!
I just rebuilt my caliper with new seals and everything.
The pistons do just push in gently. Shouldn't need any more force than your hands. It may have disturbed the pison seal though which would cause it to leak.
Bleed that caliper and see if it leaks any more.

Oooh dear! I agree with the above... as tom said, g-clamp the caliper and then rebleed it and check for leaks.
Once its not leaking just sitting there, try running the engine and then pressing the brakes... I seem to find that the brakes tend to leak more under servo power!

Dunno I'm at work till 5.30.
There wasnt a puddle under it this morning though.
Worst case scenario I think Trotter has a spare caliper I can chuck on for the weekend.

Cheers Dan. See how the night goes. Depending on the beer a bit of floor will probably do. Inside or outside. Beer keeps you warm.dan_2k_uk wrote:Looks like its not leaking but plenty of air got in there. Will bleed it up tomorrow night.
