The sill is still a sill, just not in the same form as a standard one, no strength has been lost. It's only an MOT fail if the sills are rusty, mine aren't rusty ;) Sj sills aren't really structural in the same sense and a monocoque vehicle. However rusty sills fail because of the 12" from a body, seat or seatbelt mounting point.

Ahh I see :) I would of thought you would of made it stronger anyway because therebis thicker/less metal to crumple.

The material used for the sill tuck is the old outer sill panel ;) cut off and put back on upside down (at an angle) only the floors had new material put in.

I quite like the look of tube sills myself... its a bit of an undertaking to chop the sills out and replace them all unless you actually need to do it though!

Chequer plate is the worst thing you can fit!!!!!!!! Get it off before its too late!

When I took the sill covers off karis's old SJ it was soaking wet underneath and I mean soaking wet!

Yeah thats what I thought when I put them on there sealed with sickaflex. But water will still find its way in. It lives in a dry garage so might be alright only time will tell until I can be arsed to take them off
