haha sorry this is going to be a bit delayed for now, im on crutches so cant drive :( once im on my feet again ill take a drive over to the storage and pull the chassis out and take a few pics, need to strip the old caravan floor off it and start chopping off all the bits of chassis that arent needed as its too wide, bight have to move the wheels further into the chassis if i can so it isnt too wide for the zuk...

I only just read through this thread... just thought I would add that theres a good point in using a 7 pin trailer socket instead of a 13 pin.
New MOT regs cover the trailer socket apparently, and the MOT station should have a 13 pin socket tester.
However... 7 pin sockets are NOT tested for functionality on the MOT! They are only examined for damage
One less thing to worry about :)

the 13 pin socket pushes in and twists so is less likely to disconnect or short, it also means one les cable and plug to have trailing from the trailer to the car..

still waiting for storage owner to pull the chassis out from behind a van, as soon as i can meet him down there i will pull it out with the zuk and strip the old caravan floor off it and take some piccies and get this thread going somewhere..

right here is the first update..

we gave the storage owner the money for the caravan chassis and we dug it out from behind a van...

here is what were working with...

still with previous caravan floor..

and then we stripped all the old flooring off along with all the wiring inside it to a bare chassis and running gear..

we have got to shorten the chassis and make it more narrow so that it isnt too wide for the zuk to tow, going to look at some nice 8 spokes and mud and snow tires for it to make it look a bit more meet/offroad..

more to come when we get the workshop at the storage..

the chassis is already a calvinised chassis, everything is bolted together on it so all we need to do it unbolt the trailer from the runnong gear, shorted it to the right size and drill new holes and bolt it back together, im planning on painting the chassis with red oxide for a little extra protection, then either black hammerite or use the red paint that i used on the body of the zuk..

I seen it was galvinised but when u cut it and shorten it there is going to be bare metal

As long as its painted that's good then

yep, we may need to weld a few places aswel for a bit more strength, so onviously we will need to grind off the galvinising so we can wled it, but as i said its going to get a coat of red oxide all over the chassis when the chassis is finished, then its floor and start building the body..
