identify vitara engine

Post by Cyprus Geoff » Sat Jul 27, 2013 4:24 am

Hi guys, can you help me with info please?

I bought a second hand 1600 vit lump to fit in to my Sami.

all numbers have been ground off. How can I telll the motor factors what the year of manufacture is and engine type etc?

I assume it is a G16B more than that I haven't a clue?

Ta Geoff

If the numbers have been ground off, why would you buy it? Does that not smell of 'stolen'?

The previous owner had ground of the 1600 info and substituted his own 1300 info so the engine looks like a 1300... which is what I may end up doing.

Is it an 8v engine? I think if it is, it will probably be a G16A...

Mines a G16A with a 16v head...
I just tell the motor factors that its a 98 (guess) 16v vitara engine with SPI, they normally figure it out from that

Its only becuase they wont let you change engine size in Cyprus fellas. Nothing more sinister than pulling the wool over the vehicle testers eyes.
