2001 Grand Vitara 1.6 acceleration problems

Post by afcphil » Sun Jul 28, 2013 6:41 pm

Hi all . Hope someone can help me . I test drove a 2001 Grand Vitara 1.6 soft top today . All was great except a couple of times when accelerating it felt as is the car had hit a 'flatspot' it wasn't struggling it just felt as although I had hit an incline although I hadn't . Is this normal ? There was no drop in the revs or power going through the gears and no unusual noise it just felt a bit flat at certin stages accelerating, as if it wasn't accelerating smoothly and maintaining steady acceleration smoothly . It's hard to describe , just wondered if this was normal for the model / year etc

Thanks

Sounds like it might need a new fuel filter.

I imagine it will either be underneath attached to the inside of the chassis rail, near the fuel tank

or... like in a regular car it could be accessed under the back seat

probably on the chassis rail. 10mm bolts usually..
