temp gauge not working

Post by timwilks13 » Mon Aug 05, 2013 11:02 pm

these are two 413 temp sensors and neither seem to work with my 410 temp gauge, using the old 410 wiring loom, and worked fine on the old engine, seems a bit odd neither would work...? any clues?

Use a 410 one if your using 410 clocks. Not sure if the threads are the same tho.

The one on the right looks like a oil pressure switch :er: :er:

As Tom says you need the sensor to match the gauge or your get wrong readings.

theyre not the same thread no, if i can find/make an adaptor i will, but temp sensors are just ntc thermistors so i assumed they would just have worked obviously not! the one on the right is the one in my engine, the left was in my spare 413, not sure why theyre different, i think the engine i have is spanish?

The 410 sender has a 16x1.5mm thread, I made my own adapter to go into the top radiator hose to get the stock temp gauge to work.

Sources of 16x1.5mm nuts include landrover wheel nuts and handbrake cables.

are you sure its the sender? try earthing the wire out and see if the gauge moves?

1.3 and 1.6 senders are the wrong resistance for the 410 dials as far as I'm aware.
