the paint on that rocker cover is just etch primer, with a layer of deep black laquer over top. filed of the relief to get the effect. I'm pleased with it.

just decided to go the full engine rebuild while I'm at it. believe it or not, this is the first time I've ever taken an engine apart. I've dropped the piston's out, ready for a new set of piston rings and big end bearings when I've got the money. now need to do the piston rings, big end bearings, fit new water pump, clean block, paint block, replace core plugs, build up head, and fit it all back together with new gaskets, belts, hoses etc. Anyone know the whereabouts of a money tree?

my new shocks arived today, but they are about a inch and a half longer than the original ones. Is this a problem, or is this fine?

also started to rebuild my engine head. cleaned all parts in hot soapy water, and alligned them

found out those collets are a right pain in the arse, but got them all on in the end :D feeling proud of this achievement, because I've never done anything like it before :rockin:

hoping to get the rockers, springs and rocker shafts in tomorow. am waiting to earn more money too so I can buy piston rings, water pump and big ends. might as well go for the full rebuild while I got it apart

The shocks wont be a problem as long as they are the same length when closed.

I don't know if you was planning on "roughening up" or glaze busting the cylinder bores prior to fitting the new rings, but it is advisable. You don't really want to put new rings into "old" bores.

A friend of mine used to be a mechanic, and he's got all the gear for it, and he offered to help me do it, so yes, I will be doing it.

got a little more done, got the rockers and shafts back on, with the new springs
