Fog light switch- MOT

Post by penpontgreenwoodwork » Thu Aug 08, 2013 9:14 pm

Hi All
Just sorting some MOT fail niggles. The fog light didn't work, nor did the switch light up. Now the fog light works but the switch won't. Can it only be the little bulb inside, or could there be any other reason? Thanks

Could be the switch bulb or dirty contacts in the switch.

Have you tried turning it on and off lots of times?

The jap ones have a return feed from the actual light to make the dash indicator fail safe.

The fog light switch uses the same wire as the fog light for earth. This is so the fog light only works with the headlights on.
I guess this wires broken somewhere so that's why the fog light didn't work.
Did you just earth the wire from the fog light to get it working (Same as the switch)..

I just earthed the switch (green and black wire)?. Don't know what has been changed from the original but now it all works and so does the switch light. It does however come on even if the side lights arn't on.
