Propshaft lengths

Post by NylonAdmiral » Fri Aug 09, 2013 6:36 pm

Can anyone shed any light on rear propshaft lengths?

I read the propshaft info sticky but could only see info on front prop lengths.

I'm sure I've seen comments about early and late 410 propshafts being slightly different lengths by about an inch or so?

After fitting Samurai axles, the diff carrier seems to be longer than it was on the 410 axles I took off. This now means that my rear prop is getting really close to maximum compression.

Does anyone know if there's a slightly shorter prop I can get that will help?

Thanks!

Would have thought with your lit it would work out about right.

I know, I did too but unfortunately it doesn't :(

Like I say, I'm sure a few people have mentioned that there is a shorter rear prop you can get (I just hope I'm not already running it!). If it were an inch shorter (which is what I seem to remember people were saying), then it would be perfect!

Anyone know if I've imagined this or whether it's right? :er:

Thanks both.

Dan, have you got Sammy props on yours?

Windsor, do you know what vehicle your prop is off?

Ah awesome, thanks Windsor.

How you measuring the 20inches?

If you look on the diagram in the propshaft sticky, is it roughly dimension E?

Thanks for your help!
