oil everywhere!
did an oil change today and used that engine oil cleaner stuff first, went for a little drive afterwards and when I got home there was oil everywhere, it has dripped down onto the front prop shaft and been flung everywhere so I have no idea what's leaking, pretty sure its not the sump though.
I think I have a Spanish engine, can anyone confirm if the Spanish and Jap builds use the same gaskets as I only have a number plate for a Jap build to order an entire top half gasket set, as I'm thinking I might just change em all to fix this mystery leak!

Same gaskets.
Pressure wash the engine bay then run it and see if you can spot any leaks.

Re: oil everywhere!
I just used 10 40 as I usually do, though I have just read that on older engines the build up of crap in old oil can plug small leaks, so when engine flush cleans all that crap out you can find a world of new leaks! ill go with the pressure washer plan tonight and see what the crack is, and I have also booked Thursday off work now to have a day to hopefully get this fixed for Friday!
by Dan jordi do you mean Dan2uk? if so ill pm and ask him.

This is most likely the cause.timwilks13 wrote:I just used 10 40 as I usually do, though I have just read that on older engines the build up of crap in old oil can plug small leaks, so when engine flush cleans all that crap out you can find a world of new leaks!
Doesn't matter if it's spanish or Jap all the gaskets and seals will be the same

Re: oil everywhere!
did a compression test and got 7.5 bar across all 4 so can I rule out head gasket? only thing with that is when I rev it there is a healthy amount of black smoke coming from the exhaust?!
I'm still going to pressure wash it to see but trying to narrow down the possibilities whilst at work.

Re: oil everywhere!
Black smoke usually indicates that its running super rich so check the choke isn't stuck on and that the air filter is clean/ not blocked etc.
