engine numbers to get the year ?

hello people I am wanting to put a timing belt on my vitara engine that I bought but don't no the year is there sum way I can use the engine numbers to find out thanks

Pretty sure all g16 sohc engines use the same timing belt so the year shouldn't matter.

thanks mate a noticed most of them listed 1988 onwards , is there no way of getting a year off engine numbers lyk just to no thanks

the gates number for the 8 valve is K015268

for the 16 valve its K015318XS

id recommend gates over any other belt in my opinion
