when I first drove an sj in the wet, with fairly worn tyres, I did spin her on a roundabout. I hadn't drove a rwd in thw wet before so I didn't know any better. However after more experience I can control it just fine in the wet even with the insas on. just a question on practice and decent rubber

yep as i said, ive only been driving it 4 months so need to get used to how it drives, thing is all driving instructors use is FWD cars so you cant get the feel for it on lessons, only when you acutally buy a RWD car that you realise just how much they like to drift..

tyresonthedrive used to do Mazzis Bravo HT's for £75 each..
cheapest they do now is Nexen, which are £81 each, they do..
AT RV tread pattern and RO HT SUV tread pattern, does this mean anything to anyone? lol

the only thing id say is don't do budget tyres. especially with the winter coming as well. get the best you can afford, after all they are the only thing connecting you to the road. my road tyres are a pair of bfgs and a set of khumos and they are spot on

the thing is i cant afford anything lol, £288 a month goes on insurance and im only in work until end of october, so i think i might end up going to the bank of mum and dad for a loan lol, but thats not going to be easy since my dads rangerover is in for its MOT on friday and it is in a bad shape lol..

I'm still saying the best way to not go sideways is to drive to the conditions, doesn't matter what tyres you are running. If there has been a long dry spell and then a load of rain the roads are always going to be more slippery than usual. This is because all the oil and crap that has settled on the road during the dry spell will sit on top of the water until there is enough rain to wash it all away.
If you are on the throttle enough to break traction around corners (when you are not trying to go sideways) then you need to adjust your driving style and/or slow down more.
If the roads are Icy then you need to drive slowly enough to be able to stay in control.
I'm not saying I'm the perfect driver just stating a fact, I've accidentally gone sideways a fair few times (and purposefully when I had my BMWs ) Part of the reason crashed my golf years ago was because it was wet and I was driving too fast for the road conditions, I could have had the best tyres in the world fitted and I doubt it would have made any difference, I would have still under steered.

thanks for the advice guys! im very cautious of it now lol i try to drive at as low amount of revs as possible now so it doesnt spin the tyres so easily, like i said i change up at about 2500rpm until i get to 4th, most of the time i get into 4th at about 25mph lol unless its uphill then i stay in 3rd until i get over the hill, i try to drive like this as much as i can as it should help my fuel consumption right?
i dont accelorate round corners at all now, i either let it roll on or use a little throttle just to keep it moving, i suppose you have to do it at least once to learn from it..

you'll get used to it.
chugging the engine at too low revs can also hurt fuel consumption. As an example up hills you don't want the engine to struggle so sometimes using slightly higher revs in a lower gear can be better.
To be honest 410s don't really use that much fuel no matter how you drive them, my father doesn't hang about in his and he used £10 less fuel than me in 135miles of on and offroad driving yesterday.

sounds good mate, and yep i know, when its struggling the whole body vibrates lol so thats when i know to change down, ill get used to it, thinking back to how i first started driving it id say im getting used to it bit by bit lol..
on long distance journeys i get roughly 32mpg, on short journeys ie; 2 miles driving to work and back using the choke for a bit i get 12mpg lol but i put a tenner a week in it and that gets me to and from work and sometimes to town maybe 2 times a week..
