Chuffs Mid life Crisis Pt III

Post by chuff » Fri Sep 13, 2013 9:15 pm

So, thought I best get round to a build ( should that be destruction ) thread

How it arrived, a bargain as less than a good weekend on the piss :rockin:

Image

parked next to mid life crisis Pt II :hahaha:

Next up was to removed the 3rd seat in the back :S

Image

all sorted

Image

then finish off the stripping of the inside that the previous owner had started

Image

more to follow ................
Bought it, moved it, drove it, then my mate rolled it.. . . . .

Next up was to ship it over to its new home and thats when the issues started :argh: bloody thing would start, I killed the battery so the golf came to my assistance and it finally got started and was loaded up

Image

and off on a little boat we went

Image

then it REALLY didnt wanna play

After a few " experts " had a play, a new coil, leads, plugs, CARB, dizzy, a few more cups of tea, re wiring of the coil, old carb back on, it was finally established that the ignition switch allowed it to spark 2 or 3 times then stop.

a Positive wire was ran direct from battery and all was good for the charity off road day.

The old girl, completely untested, performed faultlessly for the morning  , the smoking :smokin: reduced down to one a mile :hahaha: and held her head up well even helping tow out a 110 Landie.

Next up, oooops :S :S :S :S :S

Then I let a mate have a go :tosser: :bawling:

:hahaha: :hahaha: :hahaha: :hahaha: :hahaha: :hahaha: :hahaha: :hahaha:

Such a slow speed lie down it didnt even break the wing mirror

a quick push over and it was running in 5 minutes once everything has settled.

So the plan

New tyres - insa turbos on order.
Battery isolator - purchased requires installation
Move battery into back
remove hard top
fabricate rollcage
relocate tow bar to one side
then once all thats done more gucci toys / items will be forthcoming

Thanks for reading

treated it to some new tyres, on the free rims from a very generous forum member :doublethumbs:

Image

removed all the " homemade " rear light clusters, and wiring from the back end. :yuk:

diagnosed my ignition / start issues, need a complete ignition switch lock n barrel, ( see wanted ad ) :!:

next up a trial to test out my new tyres :S

then rollcage :weld:
