I stand corrected!ScottieJ wrote: Incorrect, it's there for an EGR system. Something that was not fitted on carb'd models therefore is blanked off.
Strange though as my original vit 8v carb manifold had it on there.... thats why I only noticed when I went to that SU manifold, which doesn't have it I don't think

Am I right in thinking there are two different 1.6 manifolds and one hugs the block more. They have different flanges aswell. When I fitted my 1.6 16v I had to move the engine over to the drivers side by 10mm to allow my manifold to clear the chassis rail

Re: vitara/samurai exhaust manifold.
Have you got the manifold with the single or twin downpipes? Ive got a single pipe one and its pretty tight as well!gp7186 wrote:Am I right in thinking there are two different 1.6 manifolds and one hugs the block more. They have different flanges aswell. Re: vitara/samurai exhaust manifold.
Yeah twiss mines the same as yours with the single downpipe It was very close until I fitted a spacer between the engine mount and block

Re: vitara/samurai exhaust manifold.
I managed to grind down the flange a little bit on the down pipe, so now it clears OK with no spacer

Re: vitara/samurai exhaust manifold.
I used the SJ manifold which had the same size exhaust ports as the 1.6 8V (carb) head. The inlet ports were quite different.

Re: vitara/samurai exhaust manifold.
sounds like overall its worth me leaving the manifold as it is if the port sizes arent that different.
What about the rest of the exhaust though? is the vitara one bigger?
and i will also be getting the vernier calipers out soon to see how well my 1.3 manifold matches up.
