manifold and shocks
couple questions lads if you would be so kind as to help my sj has had a 1.6 vitara 16 valve engine put in by the last owner, the exhaust manifold is cracked so i need a new one so my question is do i get a vitara manifold (which is not being easy) or sj manifold. which is easiest to bodge up the manifold to engine or the SJ exhaust to manifold. plus i believe it has a 2 inch lift by shackle do i need the extended shocks. sorry if these are very simple questions but only really worked on a series 3 landy before

Shackles should be ok with the standard shocks. They don't give much lift (and are horrible nasty things)

Twiss has the 16v exhaust manifold I think so he can tell you how close it would be

SJ exhaust manifold won't fit a 16V head. The 16V manifolds aren't easy to get because they do have a tendency to crack.

yea i know there not easy lol but have managed to find one just waiting for confirmation it is for 16v the manifold on at the moment doesnt look like it comes from the 16v engine so just wondered if sj could be modded to fitRhinoman wrote:SJ exhaust manifold won't fit a 16V head. There are two types of 16V manifold.

One type of manifold is for a single down pipe and the other is for a twin down pipe.
Ive got a single exit manifold and it only just fits so I don't know if the twin pipe one will fit easily!
Without tilting the engine to one side slightly (I like my gearstick straight haha) the downpipe flange only just clears the chassis rail (with some mild trimming)
I can't find a pic of both manifolds, but these are the downpipes for each
I was looking for quite a while to find my manifold!
You can easily tell if its for a 16v head as the bolt holes in the manifold are lined up vertically instead of staggered like on the 8v head and manifolds
I can't remember why the manifolds are different but I think it may be something like the twin pipes are from LWB 16v vits and the single pipes are from SWB 16v vits... but don't quote me on that!
If you don't have a downpipe, I bought a brand new downpipe and just chopped the flange off, then made my own exhaust from there!
