Starting issues

Post by chuff » Sat Nov 02, 2013 7:11 pm

Good evening Guru's

My issue is as follows.

Car wont fire, cranks over fine, no sign of life from rev counter, but wont fire. BUT its very intermittent, can be fine over and over then nowt.

We have changed the ignition switch ( told serviceable ) - still the same.

We have cured this by fitting a jumper wire from battery to coil with a switch and it was fine for a while.

now it wont start some times even with a jumper wire

So, i think we have 2 issues - ignition switch and a wiring issue.

any thoughts welcomed.

Also, as this is now only off road use, anyone done away with their ignition and just wired up a cut off stich and start button - if so, a noddy guide ?

Thanks in advance

I would also try replacing the coil if you can get one cheap or have a spare...

But it sounds like you do indeed have a wiring problem as well, possibly which has finished off the coil.
One of my mates had a similar problem and needed a coil wire but I can't remember what caused it.

Although if you do put a different coil on you may still need the coil wire

Is your fusible link OK?

Try tracing the coloured wires coming from the coil.
