Fitting a 1.3 injection engine into an SJ?
Fitting a 1.3 injection engine into an SJ?
I believe the 1.3 injection engine from the early jimny, wagon r and swift bolts upto the 413 gearbox?
Not sure which engine to use, either the g13ba (I think 8v) or g13bb (I think 16v)
Would like to know which of the engines are used in the samurai injection? And which would be easiest to fit? Ie which has the least amount of wiring?
One of the problems I can see is how would I go about changing the distributor? Would a 413 distributor fit the injection engine? If not then how could I get around the injection dizzie hitting the bulkhead of the SJ..
If I think of anything else I'll post yet another question
Just want to go 1.3 injection as hopefully I'll get close to the power as a 1.6 8v but still be in the lower tax bracket, and hopefully the insurance won't go up as much as if I did go 1.6...

Re: Fitting a 1.3 injection engine into an SJ?
The G13BA was used in the Samurai injection models, those were 8V TBI. The G13BB engine was used in the Jimny and is an MPFI 16V motor. From what I recall only the Swift engine has an issue with the distributor, the Samurai and possibly the Wagon R have a distributor in the same configuration as the SJ and the Jimny is distributorless. The Sanurai TBI set up has the least wiring but the Jimny set up is way superior and is tuneable.
The G13BB Jimny engine has about the same power as a Vit 8V but a fair bit less torque, the Samurai engine has about the same power as the carb version.

If you can source one a Swift GTI lump will have oodles of grunt. Rare now though.
If it ticks over...leave it

It'll have a lot of power but no grunt, it also has the dizzy problem.donkeychomp wrote:If you can source one a Swift GTI lump will have oodles of grunt. Rare now though.

I wouldn't bother going to a g13 from a f10. F10a is a superb little engine. Most of the older g13s are all shite in comparison.

Now tha I've got my 31's she will see some mud, but she's more of a daily driver so want her to be good on the road aswel as offroad, I find the manual choke to be a pain in the arse lol so basically if I can do something to say goodbye to manual choke I'll be happy, any suggestions?

Re: Fitting a 1.3 injection engine into an SJ?
hahah most people with a 1.3 would die for a manual choke!
to be honest I'd listen to Dan on this one... theres not much point in just putting in a 1.3 as the power gains won't be that great... 410 engine really are great!!!
I would wait until you can reasonably afford the insurance to drop a 1.6 in... as putting a bigger, 1.3 engine in would probably skyrocket the insurance anyway

If you are limited by engine capacity what about a bike engine? Lots of kit cars use Fireblade, ZXR engines etc. Would rev like a nutter but not very good offroad..

Why muck about? If your thinking fuel injection don't go to all that hassle and not fit a 1.6 16v?
