235/75/15 Tyres on a sj 413 with no Lift

Post by more948 » Mon Dec 02, 2013 6:53 pm

Hello all,

As some of you might have seen i have recently purchased an SJ and was looking at going down the 2" lift route, with this being expensive i thought i would start with some decent tyres for a bit of green laning and maybe some pay and play days.

So i have found these on ebay

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4x-235-75-15- ... 27d954ee4b

My question is what exactly do i have to do to get these to fit.

As far as i can work out it is as follows,

cut the cross member back behind the bumper?

Cut the bumper down or run a different one?

Maybe fold back the bulkhead seams?

Would it make any difference adding wheel spacers as well? (more clearance on the inside of the arch how would this affect the out side arch?

Dude...what wheels you gunna run? i have 235/75 x 15 on my 88 SJ and all i needed to do was grind a bit of the bumper off and the bumper support. The tyres rub a bit on full lock so need to grind a bit more off the support.

My wheels are 7 x 15 Daihatsu alloys

Ye 235/75/15 would fit ideal

Best option is to find someone with 235/75/15 tyres and fit them to urs and see if they catch and look alright I reckon u could fit 30" tyres in there as 235/75/15 are 29"

I've got 31's on mine and when it was standard height they fit with clearance, I just had to chop the bumper support off and flatten the seam in the back of the front arch and that was enough clearence, I do have a virtual lift though so that could be completely different, you should be able to get 235 75's in with no problem, and if they were to catch the chassis or spring then it's fairly easy to get a set of spacers and some rubber to extend your arches...

Looks to me like you've already got a virtual lift..

If I was you id go for some 31 x 10.50 R15's, with a small amount of modification to the front bumper supports I recon you'll be good to go ;)
