Vague steering

Post by rob381 » Thu Jan 02, 2014 6:36 pm

Hi guys, i have an 04 plate 5 door gv and i have noticed that when reaching certain speeds (about 50 and above) the cars steering becomes very vague and light and seems to want wander all over. I feel as though i'm not in control of the car and be really scarry. Tyre presure steering joints and ball joints all checked and ok. Any thoughts guys. Thanks.

Have you checked all the universal joints on the end of the steering column into the steering rack? These are a common thing to fail on GVs, if everything else seems ok it could actually be a worn steering rack, I actually have a steering rack I need to get rid of if it turns out to be that!
