Hello
Hello
Hi all, new on here and looking for advice and guidance, So here we go :
This had probably been bought up before but I can't seem to find threads on it.
I have a 86 sj410 and just aquired vitara 1.6 8v spi but without loom or ECU.
Also have got some twin 40's carbs, which I've had for years and I'd like to fit to vit engine.
Questions are,
Can I modify the current manifold?
What to do with all sensors and wiring?
Ignition system simple enough to sort?
Fueling side of things? Pump needed? Sort if pressure?
And any other advice.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Hello
You will need to acquire some 413 bits as well, gear box, clutch, flywheel, engine mounts. Have a read through here http://www.suzukiclubuk.co.uk/diy/15-en ... 1-6-engine ,
You will need a 12v fuel pump too, without the ecu and stuff I would go rockwatt manifold and fit an su.

Re: Hello
I have done (doing) the same mod and I'm using a 413 inlet manifold with an SU hiff44 carb on an adaptor, regarding the twin 40's you will have to wait for someone with more knowledge on webers to come on I'm afraid!

Re: Hello
I'd really like to build a G16, 16 valve power plant with twin 40 carbs myself
You can actually buy a manifold for fitting Twin 40 carbs to the 1.3 and 1.6 G series engines.
http://www.webcon.co.uk/shopexd.asp?id=15197
As for sensors and such, Twiss is probably the man to speak to as he's running a G16 16v on an SU carb at the moment.

There's three ways of doing things:
The right way,
The wrong way
And my way, which is like the wrong way but faster.

Re: Hello
The carbs where for next to nothing. They will need a bit spending on due to being jetted for a 1.3 escort so will have to jet them for vit engine.
Thanks for the manifold info. I'll have a look at them.
Just the sensors that worry me bit. Weather or not they need just blanking off. And what do do with the ignition and that side of things!

Re: Hello
You'll need a skinny starter motor and 413 coil and dizzy and it will all wire up to your current 410 wiring. I had to follow a 413 and 410 wiring diagram as some colours were different.
Which sensors are you worried about? Change your manifold and carb and that's all them sorted, and use a 413 exhaust manifold and that's that sensor sorted, not sure what else there is?

Re: Hello
You're going to need an ignition system, the 413 dizzy will fit if you use the 90 degree adapter from the 1.3 engine. You'll need to modify it to get the optimum timing curve, particularly as the webers don't have the right vacuum take off so the vacuum advance will be a vacuum retard.
