carb ??
carb ??
just picked up 413 from garage, all fixed and mot'd yay !! however there was a slight question on how well the carb would work. i drove for about 50 miles and then conked out thinking it is prob the carb or auto choke. what carb would be best as a replacement, i know webber seems to be the sugested one but what webber ??? theres so many, and what else would i need to get along with the carb. thanks
Re: carb ??
Have you got the hot pipe connected to your air filter? The cold weather could of cause carb freeze. Which could be why it conked out.
This is the weber you would need.

But if you do much off roading you might be better off with a hif44 su carb.

not doing any off roading, its all original and my little run around. it only came back from the garage yesterday after having work done and an mot so pipe should be on. the carb was taken to bits and cleaned but he did say it might still be duff, but as it drove fine for 50 miles im a little lost. would i need a conversion plate with the carb you are sugesting ? thanks

Re: carb ??
For the SU you need a modified manifold preferably but they can be fitted with a 90* elbow adaptor.
The webers come as a kit I believe with all required adaptors.

Re: carb ??
50 miles is a long distance for an auto-choke problem to occur. Did you check the plugs, if the choke was stuck on then they would be very black and stink of petrol.

Re: carb ??
to be honest I doubt the hot air feed pipe is something most garages would know is supposed to be fitted let alone checksharon wrote: it only came back from the garage yesterday after having work done and an mot so pipe should be on.
can you post a pic of your engine bay please?
Re: carb ??
Can't put pic up at the mo as car is at garage, he seems to think it's the carb, he did take it to bits and clean it before the mot, it's running after sitting all night but for how long I don't know. I'm thinking of getting a new carb, the webber is a bit more than I wanted to pay so any other suggestions would be great. Does anyone know what it is with theses Suzuki carbs as everyone seems to change them, is there a common fault or just a performance thing ?? Thanks

Re: carb ??
theyre just crap, the auto choke on em is too temperamental, can conk out randomly or be sat at some traffic lights with a warm engine and the carb is revving its tits off. i think people have tuned them and fiddled and all sorts but most just end up replacing.
