I have some Spanish calipers, as yet not inspected. Condition unknown.

I'm sure it will be alright Darrel I fitted new pads to the front of mine about 2 weeks ago old ones was lifting ODF and also I could cruble them lol I used a big pair of groove lock pliars to push the piston in and it worked a treat

Also I have rebuilt 1 Asian caliper so far but can't remeber which side it was it was an easy job I can say if a 18 year old can do it I'm sure you can

I had a similar problem with jap callipers one of the slider pins had worn so the calliper was twisting on application and then locking on..

I replaced both of my front ones so should have a working one in a box somewhere.. Pm me your address and if I can lay my hands on it i'l get it in the post

It's not just if I can rebuild it or not, but also IF that fixes it or not.

I got the full rebuild kit from brakes international, it comes with new sliders. Sorted my brakes a treat!

Okay, not feeling quite so stressed today, but things have arguably gone from bad to worse. The passenger side caliper is pretty buggered too. The slide pins are well stuck in the caliper so I'm going to have to break out a bigger hammer to shift those. One of the bolts that holds the slide pins and 'actual' caliper onto the pad carrier was so rotten I had to hammer an 11mm socket onto it in order to get it off. The boot is partially gone, as in 'it's not there', and the piston underneath is all corroded.

Question is, do I go for a rebuild kit and hope for the best or, if someone has a pair they'd sell, do I buy a pair of calipers that are working properly and ready to go from someone on the forum?

Need to make a quick decision as there's postage time and I might need to get new pads too if I go the replacement caliper route and they're Spanish ones.

I don't see why everyone seems to have issues with jap calipers? I've always ran them and never had issues. It's like all calipers, they just need to be stripped cleaned and lubed on the sliders every now and again, especially when the vehicle goes offroad a lot. don't forget they are nearly 30 years old after all gotta expect a few issues after that length of time and no rebuilds!

Brakes international do rebuild kits and new pistons, I would just rebuild them.
