Can someone help me, do one of these engines(if they're the right one) have the correct carb for my 1.6 8v vitara engine i've bought.
One is a '98 and one is a '99 so i just wanted to check before buying the carb
Cheers

Re: Carb help
He's right... The vitara carb looks pretty similar to the standard SJ carb

Re: Carb help
Do you need a standard carb have you considered going straight to SU? Even if you fit it on an elbow adaptor it'll get you away.

Re: Carb help
how different is the intake on the 1.6 manifold from the 1.3, will a 1.3 carb fit on or are the mounting holes different?

Re: Carb help
Will the SU fit under the bonnet with an elbow adaptor?
I couldn't tell you how different the mounting holes are between the 1.3 and 1.6, hopefully someone will know

Re: Carb help
Some adaptors clear the bonnet, some don't. Mine didn't but that was the way I fitted it, I was missing a carb to adaptor spacer so had to use a adaptor to manifold spacer which raised the carb up.
The 1.3 carb wouldn't be set right for a 1.6 and would probably end up running badly / under powered.
