front prop shaft on a sj 413 been converted to a 417

Post by Shawboy » Sun Jan 12, 2014 2:05 am

is there any other prop shafts that fit a 413 when its had a body lift? or is it just the 413 with a spacer?

A body lift shouldn't alter props.

A suspension lift may mean a prop adjustment. Upto about a 1" spacer seems to do the trick for most, or have you gone radical?

I think one of the types of 410 prop is shorter than other props but I'm not 100% on that

The are longer 410 props. As said a body lift shouldn't affect props at all unless the transfer box has been "tucked"

what you mean by tucked I have a carlton gear box the engine is the Isuzu 1.7td. I had to add a spacer on the prop but it only lasted 12 hours offroad before it snapped. if this is the case maybe I need to buy a few in

It's a good point raised by Dan.

I think he is suggesting the transfer box might be lifted in the chassis, or tucked out of the way. If it has been lifted out of the way the prop angles would increase, and make the chances of them binding be greater.

Where did it snap?

410 props are longer than 413 and samurai props by around 1"

Any chance you can post some pictures of the tbox mounts, prop angles etc? How much of the slip home on the props is showing.

You can get away with around 3" lift (either suspension or a combination of lifted Tbox and suspension etc.) without using spacers.
