g16a ignition coil problem?

Post by Richie » Wed Jan 22, 2014 10:35 am

Hi guys, after 10 months of trying to resolve a running problem with the suzuki im starting to think it might be the ignition coil. After 15 mins or so of running fine it then starts to splutter and die. Im wondering if the coil is over heating so wanted to try a new one. But my parts suppliers cant identify which one it needs and im not sure if it has a 1.6 vitara one on atm

you've tried a new fuel filter i presume? you want to measure the resistance of the ignition coil between the primary and secondary terminals and compare against service data when the coil is cold and hot... this should tell you if its dying or not

As for replacement... I got myself an MSD blaster coil to replace my samurai one and its perfect!!!

If it looks the same as that it will probably be correct... just make sure your one doesn't have a ballast resistor as well... but I dont think it will having a vitty coil

i would still use a multimeter and test your coil though... i will post the proceedure in a sec
