Sj410 doesn't like water
My Sj 410 doesn't like water it has new leads new rotor arm new points new condenser and I have waterproofed the coil and it doesn't like 2 foot of water e.g bottom of the sill my mates 1.3s go flat out through it and no problem at all
There was a spark getting to the points and power to the dissy but no power to the spark plugs but once it was bumped started or towed it will run boo wet less put foot down and it dies it runs very sluggish but once been running for 10 mins on tick over it runs sweet as a nut

Sounds like you are getting water in the dizzy cap somehow?

Drive into the water slowly, build up the speed and bow wave.

Re: Sj410 doesn't like water
We'll the problem is I didn't go flat out through it I went slowly like what Scottie said and it still done that but I don't get it my mates in there 1.3 a whent flat out through it water everywhere and I went through the same puddle slowly and mine bogged down lol so I will somehow water proof the dissy
My jimmy mate has gave me a viscous van so I have put that on this afternoon. And he said when the fan hits the water it will stop spinning and the old standard fan what ever speed ur doing it will flick water all over the engine bay is this correct

Re: Sj410 doesn't like water
My 410 never had an issue with deep water? Is the splash guard in below the radiator?

Re: Sj410 doesn't like water
I wouldn't trust an old viscous one to not spin in water.
If you are thinking of changing the fan, I'd put an electric one on, with a switch allowing you to turn it off when going through water.

Re: Sj410 doesn't like water
I've never waterproofed the dizzy on any Suzuki of mine and it's never been an issue! Only thing I used to have a cover for was the coil and it was a proper coil glove.

Re: Sj410 doesn't like water
Erm also I should point out that viscous fans shouldn't really stop spinning when they hit water. The viscous clutch is controlled by temperature... and the fan is pretty much locked to the crank pulley at running temp... but I doubt that a quick dunk in some water will change the temp quickly enough to disengage the fan
