Release bearing

Post by george123 » Sat Feb 08, 2014 2:45 pm

Hi everyone having trouble with the release bearing on my 410 when I press the clutch down its fine but when I release the clutch there's a terrible whining I took it to a mechanic and he said the release bearing wasn't coming back far enough? Is there meant to be a pin or some sort holding the real ease bearing the two forks in the gearbox to pull it back? If there we're do I find them?

Thanks

sounds like your release bearing is buggered anyway :P
there are indeed two forks with a pin on one of them... (on a 413 anyway)
the release bearing hooks onto the little pin

if you are taking the gearbox off i would consider putting a new one in anyway (or possibly a whole new clutch if the price was right)

It probably will but I can't say for sure as ive never looked at a 410 box in detail

I've managed to snap the pin out of mine before... think i fixed it with a tiny bolt somehow!

What's broken/missing on yours.
Is yours the early or later type.
The early spring clips are prone to breaking I've read..
