Hi Everybody,
I thought I would take the liberty of joining this group whilst still looking for my first Jimny, I'm taking my time looking for something to use on the road but we are just about to move to a new area which is infamous for being difficult to access in the winter months so I did some research and decided to get a Jimny as my Mrs looks after old people and needs to be able to get to them in bad weather.
Anyone got any tips on what to look for and avoid?

welcome to the club
i dont know much about jimnys but i know the front hubs are air operated and the pipes are known to brake apart but you can fit manual free wheeling hubs to it if needed

Re: Hi From Northants
Front hubs are easy fixed with a bit of new rubber pipe.
Flip the back seats up and check for rust next to the arches and around the seatbelt mounts.
The earlier G series engined ones will be easier to work on if you want to work on it yourself.
Normal stuff like checking service records etc.
Check 4wd system engages and disengages correctly.
Listen for any knocks and check for steering wheel wobble between about 40-50mph when on a test drive. Usually most prominent when holding a steady speed rather than while accelerating or decelerating.
This wobble is quite common and can be linked to one or all of a few different things (again mostly easy fixes)
