My Lj is pretty original and not a drop of rust, or any dings etc, so I dont really wanna mess with it too much.just lift a little and wheels and tyres. If the car was a bit rough or not as clean and original I would look into building a really nice ride. Im finding it hard to get info on Lj80,s, like what sort of lift? Offset wheels? Alot of 4x4 stuff but not alot of detailed info. Any help?

Yeah sounds like a plan, no point cutting it up if its good already :)
Im not sure if you can use SJ leaf springs as that would make it very easy!
Scottie is probably your best bet when it comes to LJs

SJ springs will fit straight on and work well with the standard rims, particularly if you fit some after market shocks, I've had this set up on a few LJ's with Monroe Gas Magnum shocks. Improves the ride a lot and works a lot better off road as well, and also gives a slightly higher ride. I wouldn't go for an after markret suspension lift if your running standerd rims as LJ's become very unstable if you do, I tried that set up with Rancho springs and it was far to unstable. You really need some offset rims to increase the width otherwise you'll spend your time laid on your side.

Incidentally an engine conversion I saw many years ago used a Datsun 120Y engine and box and didn't involve cutting the bulkhead, but the front panel had to be cut to seat the radiator further forward and fitted with a slim Nissan Cherry fan. Not that you see many of these in a scrapyard these dayys of course.

Should have said that any SJ suspension kits will fit an LJ, but I think you will have realised that!!!

Bedford Rascal/Suppercarry rear spring fit as well so I was once told be someone with a modified trialler, but not sure what ride height it gives you and of course it fits on the rear.

I should have also added if you go for an SJ suspension kit the SJ rear shocks are different to the LJ, the top mounting is eyed rather than the threaded bar. So you will need after market LJ shocks with the SJ springs.

What about going for an f10d 1.1 out of the Suzuki alto, it's uses the same block as the f10a as far as I'm aware but it has the benifits of modern technology! They have Multipoint fuel injection so the wiring would be the biggest challenge. However they are a very economical engine in the alto and would be a big power improvement over the F8 :rockin:

Just make sure i haven't been along and stolen the top hose connector, they fit nicely on my 16v engine ;)

Interesting comment about the F10D engine, I just assumed the f series development finished with the 970 block. Guess who's off to the breakers yard this afternoon.

Any updates on this anyone? I "think" I read somewhere that someone had dropped an LJ shell on a Sami chassis but isn't the body too narrow?
