Cant think what's in dizzy without looking, but its electronic ignition so no points. It can run ok with timing out but bad under load, are all the vac pipes connected and not split?

found 1 return vac pipe with hole in and altered timing manualy by ear not light until it runs without have the flat spots i had to move it nearly all possible adjustment counter clockwise.now accelaerates better but backfires when you back off the throttle smells quite rich.blew out fuel lines and replaced a short section that wasnt proper flexable fuel pipe and was melting.am i liable to eat the plugs if the timing is far out from true ?.Havent timed a car for years think the last one was a beetle years ago is it any different because its electrnic ignition ? may need to get someone to do it for me.Thanks for your advice appear to be going in right direction

Shouldn't be different. I got a light as they aren't that expensive these days. The flat spots could be the carb

Hi Robbie.
Have just signed up to the suzuki club UK this eve....hopefully to get some idea what my problem may be. I got a lovely Jimny (07) last summer. Its been great through the winter, what with all the flooding etc.
About 4 months ago i noticed an odd wering sound coming from under the center of the Jim. It sounds like another smaller engine is running, but only when i drive over 35 mph. It gets louder the faster i go. The noise has got very slightly louder as the times gone by.
Two local garages said it may be the Diff or wheel bearings or transfer box but they weren't sure. So i was advised to go to a gearbox specialist. They looked but couldnt pin point the noise exactly. obviously the costing of ripping out the Diff is time consuming, so was told to keep driving the Jim and see if the noise gets any worse. Thats fine, but id love to know whats going on. Has anyone heard of anything like this before?

Many thanks
Nicki :)
