Best MPG

Post by Furey » Thu Apr 03, 2014 6:42 pm

Hello,

Whats the best small Suzuki 4x4 to get for fuel efficiency please? I know that its not going to be fantastic either way but its going to be a daily driver. I need something around vitara sized. I'd imagine the 1.6 16v injected isn't bad? I've seen some diesel ones for sale, are these ones homebrew conversions?

I keep reading horror stories about them doing 20mpg!

I had a 58plate GV 3 door 1.6. It was garbage, 25-27mpg at best.

my vitara gets 25mpg at most for general running, its a 1.6 16v engine.
but at 70 mph its sitting at 4k rpm which explains the poor mpg.

I've got a grand vitara 2.0 16v and I read that it'll do 28mpg, will see when I get driving it and if it is that low then I might get the ECU remapped...

Pretty sure you can't just remap the ECU on the j20a, there's not many Suzuki ECUs that you can.

Ahh that's not good, oh well I'll see how it goes, 28mpg sounds really low for a modern fuel injected engine, I mean my SJ done 36mpg when it had road tyres

Suppose a lot of it is how you drive really...
