Re: handbrake
My 91 Spanish Sammy had a useless handbrake. I swapped it for a t/box one

Re: handbrake
Its always been a problem on mine... Ive had a couple of the little ratchet arms break on mine, which just lets the brakes unwind as they see fit
Always a problem child every MOT
As robbie says put a transfer box one on and get some rear discs

Re: handbrake
I used to get it to pass on the breaks and fail on hand break. Then adjust the shoes so they would bind a bit, go for retest of the hand break and it would pass. Go round the corner and wind the shoes back a bit
