transfer box shake

Post by vit4x4 » Wed Jul 02, 2014 6:09 pm

hi I have a sj blitz, when in 1st & 2nd gear the transfer box lever jumps about a lot, in the rest off the gears its fine, ive recently changed the transfer box so the mounting rubbers aren't damaged, is this normal?, thank you michael

Remove and check your engine mounts, the passenger side ones are the most likely to fail. Also check the UJs on the intermediate propshaft.

Could be a defective mount. When one went on my T-box it would jump around whenever torque was applied.
There's three ways of doing things:

The right way,
The wrong way
And my way, which is like the wrong way but faster.

I've had that same problem twice. Exactly as Scottie & Edweird say, one time it was one of the T-box mounts and the other time it was a UJ on the intermediate prop. Good luck!
